All District personnel are trained to respond to any hazardous material incident in our jurisdiction with multiple members being trained to the technician level. The District protects numerous truck routes, air cargo, Canadian National and Union Pacific railways, and approximately 100 fixed industrial faciltiies. All fire response vehicles are equipped hazardous materials response equipment inlcuding a Heavy Rescue (Squad 7) which transports special gas meters, leak stop equipment, and diking/absorbant materials. Our members are trained to the operation and technician levels to better handle any hazardous material both in West Chicago and surrounding communities.
