| Among the nearly 3,000 lives lost were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice.
We remember the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape. We remember the civilians whose lives were taken far too soon, the families who lost loved ones, and all those who responded in the days, weeks, and months that followed.
For those of us in the fire service, September 11 carries a special meaning. It is a lasting reminder of the courage, commitment, brotherhood, and sacrifice that come with answering the call to serve.
Today, we stood together to honor them.
25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸 |
