The Fire District provides smoke detector installation assistance to our residents on a scheduled basis. We can also provide smoke detectors to low income and/or senior residents free of charge. Residents in need of installation assistance and/or smoke detectors can contact us at (630) 231-2123.
Illinois Smoke Detector Law quick facts:
- Illinois law requires working smoke detectors in all residential occupancies. The law requires detectors to have 10 year sealed batteries or electrical with a 10 year back battery.
- Smoke detectors must be installed within 15 feet of sleeping areas and one per level of the residence.
