Fire District Administration West Chicago Fire Protection District is a local government entity, which means it is a separate government taxing body and serves areas outside of the City limits including parts of Warrenville, Wayne, Winfield and St. Charles . The Fire District operates under a governing body of five trustees and three fire commissioners. They appoint the Fire Chief followed by five deputy fire Chiefs. The Deputy Chiefs include the the First Deputy Chief (second in command), the Fire Marshal Deputy Chief, and three Shift Commander deputy Chiefs.
The Fire District also employs an Administrative Manager, Kathey DeVaney greets visitors in the front office Monday thru Friday and takes care of much of the paperwork and logistics for West Chicago Fire. Fire District Trustees and Commissioners hold meetings monthly at the fire station and meetings are open to the public.
